TORONTO. Experienced scriptwriter Rasmus Heisterberg is making his directorial debut with "In the Blood," while Gudmundur Arnar Gudmundsson's first feature "Heartstone" follows a pair of prizewinning shorts. Both are selected for the Toronto Film Festival's Discovery section.

Three films on Denmark's Oscar shortlist

OSCAR 2017. "The Commune" by Thomas Vinterberg, "Walk with Me" by Lisa Ohlin and "Land of Mine" by Martin Zandvliet are shortlisted for the title as Denmark's Foreign Language entry. The Danish Oscar committee will announce the final candidate on 19 September.

Two documentary films to Toronto
TORONTO. A personal road movie from Syria unfolds in Andreas Dalsgaard and Obaidah Zytoon's "The War Show," while a notorious crime case takes centre stage in Brian McGinn and Rod Blackhurst's "Amanda Knox." Both films are selected for Toronto Film Festival's doc showcase TIFF Docs.

FESTIVAL. Thomas Vinterberg's Silver Bear winner "The Commune" will be screening as a Special Presentation at the 41st Toronto Film Festival, running 8-18 September.
The War Show and Heartstone to Venice Days
FESTIVAL. Opening this year's Venice Days will be the documentary "The War Show" by Andreas Dalsgaard and Obaidah Zytoon, accompanied by Gudmundur Arnar Gudmundsson's debut feature "Heartstone," also in competition at the Venice Film Festival's independent sidebar running from 31 August to 10 September.
Klown duo cooking up new comedy
IN PRODUCTION. Casper Christensen and Frank Hvam, who brought male misbehaviour to the big screen in "Klown" and "Klown Forever," are preparing a comedy set in the eighties, to be directed by debuting feature director Jesper Rofelt.
