Directors of "Ballroom Dancer" Christian Bonke and Andreas Koefoed were honoured with a Special Jury Mention in the Best New Documentary Director Competition at Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

"Ballroom Dancer" is an intense, close-up portrait of a man struggling with an aging body in the glittering world of ballroom dancing. We meet Slavik, a former World Champion in Latin American Dance, who is about to make his final comeback as a professional dancer with his partner and lover Anna. Slavik is addicted to the limelight and the dance. His body, however, is causing him aches and pains and his flaring temper puts his relationship with Anna at stake.

"Ballroom Dancer" was selected for IDFA 2011. After Tribeca, the film's festival tour continues to the Canadian documentary film festival Hot Docs which opened 26 April, followed by Warsaw, Transylvania and Sydney. The film is produced by Jakob Nordenhof Jønck for Danish Documentary Production with support from the Danish Film Institute.
