Living in Copenhagen? The DFI Cinematheque in the heart of the city presents a comprehensive programme of Danish and international titles all year round. To help our non-Danish speaking audiences navigate the films on show next month, this overview brings a selection of series containing films with English dialogue or subtitles.

Danish Films 2016 – The Critic's Seven Favourites
The Cinematheque asked Nanna Frank Rasmussen, film critic at the Danish daily Jyllands-Posten, to select her seven favourite Danish films from 2016. Her choice fell on these titles, playing in March and April: "Parents," "Shelley," "Where Have All the Good Men Gone," "The Commune," "Get Santa," "Across the Waters" and "Jacob Holdt: My Life in Pictures." All, except the latter film, will be screening with English subtitles.

David Lynch – Film, Art, Coffee and Twin Peaks
The big David Lynch retrospective continues in March and April, with screenings of Lynch's films from the 90s and 00s accompanied by a number of events covering the many facets of the renowned filmmaker, including coffee and cherry pie, a "Twin Peaks" quiz, talks and an exploration of Lynch's meditational practice.

Catalan Film Festival – Concerts, Films and Tastings
Explore the Catalan identity from different angles, both historical and current, when the Cinematheque rolls out the red carpet for the fifth edition of the Copenhagen Catalan Film Festival. This year's programme consists of five new films offering a many-sided view of the Catalan society. In addition to film screenings, there will be concerts, director visits and tastings. All films are shown with English subtitles.

Keys to "La La Land" – Sources of Inspiration
Watching Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in Damien Chazelle's "La La Land" leaves no doubt that the musical genre is alive and kicking. Watch or revisit the iconic musicals "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" and "An American in Paris," and experience Chazelle's own "Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench" from 2009, the director's preliminary study for "La La Land."

Danish on a Sunday – Danish Films with Subtitles
Twice a month the Cinematheque presents Danish films, current or classic, with English subtitles for our non-Danish speaking audiences. On the bill for March are "Democrats" (5 March) by Camilla Nielsson, chronicling the bumpy road to Zimbabwe's new constitution, and "In the Blood" (12 March), a story set during one summer in Copenhagen about Simon and his friends as they experience the inevitable change from youth to adulthood.
