From Russia with Love

IDFA 2011. Director Lise Birk Pedersen received warm applause from the audience at the world premiere of "Putin's Kiss".

Lise Birk Pedersen's documentary "Putin's Kiss" enjoyed its world premiere at IDFA this weekend in attendance of more than 750 festival guests seated in the impressive Tuschinski cinema in Amsterdam.

"It was a fantastic experience to see the film with so many people and in such beautiful surroundings," the director said.

"Putin's Kiss" follows Masha, a spokesperson for the Russian political youth movement Nashi, who comes to doubt the true ideals of the movement. The film traces the seductive powers of Nashi and Masha's growing unease, as she discovers that the organisation she is so deeply involved in has a dark side.
