Juliane

Hans Kristensen, Denmark, 2000

104 min.DK/Feature

This film is the sequel to »The Twopenny Dance« (1999). Strong and independent Juliane is now happily married to Otto, a smith whose socialist beliefs she does not share, but whom she supports as well as she can. Her eldest children, Johan and Thora, experience their first romances, much to Juliane's discomfort as unwanted pregnancies are all too frequent. Johan reveals his talent for the stage and appears at the "Barcelona", where the love of his life, Betty, works as a call girl. However, their relationship is fraught with problems. Thora finds her beloved in the sphere of her own home, a lodger Juliane is forced to take in when tragedy strikes the family. Throughout these ups and downs Juliane proves her strength as a woman who refuses to be shaken by the buffets and blows fate deals her.
