The film follows the everyday routines in a hospital ward for infectious diseases. All doors were opened for the film team to register patients and staff under all circumstances, day and night.
In this special ward patients are taken in with a whole range of different infections, and in this setting the biggest center for treating AIDS patients in Denmark has been placed.
What they set out to portray in the observational cinema form was this complex and demanding challenge in health politics - AIDS - seen through the perspective of everyday work, feelings, thoughts and communications between patient and members of the staff in these tense situations concerning the big question in life: mental and physical crisis in connection with illness and death.
