Director. Born 28/2 1979, Denmark. Trained at the European Film College, Denmark, 2001-02. Has directed short fiction, commercials, music videos and TV satire. Holds a degree from the School of Time-based Media, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art, from 2010. Graduated as director from the alternative film school Super16 in 2010.
Hasselbalch made his feature film debut with 'Antboy' (2013) which enjoyed its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and won a Danish Robert Award for Best Children/Youth Film. He has later directed the two sequels, 'Antboy: Revenge of the Red Fury' (2014), which also won a Robert Award, and 'Antboy 3' (2016), which was nominated for several prizes. 'The Shamer's Daughter 2 - The Serpent Gift' (2019) is his fourth feature film.
In 2013, Hasselbalch was chosen for the Nordic Film Lab program where 16 of the most promising filmmakers from Scandinavia including directors, scriptwriters and producers are selected by the national film institutes.
