Cinema auditorium for conferences, talks and screenings
Bio Asta ("Asta Cinema") is a cinema auditorium at Cinemateket, the Danish Film Institute's cinematheque in Copenhagen. It can accommodate up to 140 guests and is a strong choice for conferences, presentations, panel discussions and film screenings.
The area in front of the screen provides space for speakers, moderators, interviews and panel discussions. This makes Bio Asta particularly suitable for events where dialogue on stage and interaction with the audience are important parts of the programme.
Bio Asta is named after Danish actress and silent-film icon Asta Nielsen. The auditorium combines classic cinema atmosphere with modern facilities and professional event production.
Bio Asta is particularly well suited to:
- Conferences and seminars
- Talks, lectures and interviews
- Panel discussions and Q&A sessions
- Presentations and product launches
- Press screenings and premieres
- Private and professional film screenings
- Client and employee events
When dialogue and visual content work together
Bio Asta works particularly well for events that combine presentations and conversation. This may be a panel discussion, product presentation, employee meeting or film screening with an introduction and a discussion afterwards.
The large screen and sound system provide a clear setting for presentations, film clips, campaign films and case studies. At the same time, the area in front of the screen provides space for talks, interviews, panel discussions and questions from the audience.
AV and technical production
Bio Asta features 4K projection, a large cinema screen and a professional sound system. Handheld and headset microphones allow the setup to be adapted to presentations, interviews, panel discussions and questions from the audience.
The auditorium supports 35 mm film, DCP, MP4, Blu-ray and HDMI connections from either a Cinemateket computer or your own device.
Before the event, we will review your presentation material and technical requirements with you. Where possible, we can also arrange a technical test before the event date.
For half-day and full-day conferences, an operator is present throughout the event. For other event formats, the agreed technical staffing will be specified in your proposal.
Asta Bar for arrivals, breaks and networking
Asta Bar is located directly outside Bio Asta and provides a convenient area where guests can gather before or after the programme.
By agreement, Asta Bar can be used for one hour either before or after the event. The time can be used for registration, coffee, a break, reception catering or informal conversation between guests. If you need the area for longer, additional time can be booked.
Asta Bar can be screened off by agreement but remains part of an active public area within Cinemateket. The precise boundaries, layout and use of the area will be agreed with the event team.
Catering before, during or after the programme
Meyers can provide coffee, breakfast, refreshments, drinks and reception catering for your event. Catering is adapted to the programme, number of guests and the area booked for serving.
Drinks may be taken into Bio Asta. Food is served in Asta Bar or another area booked by agreement.
The direct connection between the auditorium and Asta Bar makes it easy for guests to move between the programme, breaks, catering and networking.
Make film part of the experience
A film screening can be the main focus of your event or form part of a conference, product launch, employee event or client evening.
If you would like to screen a feature film, documentary or other copyrighted production, Cinemateket's event team can assist with film recommendations, booking and screening rights.
We can also suggest relevant titles, including films from the Danish Film Institute's archive.
A central Copenhagen location
Cinemateket is located at Gothersgade 55 beside the King's Garden, a few minutes' walk from Nørreport Station and the Metro.
This makes Bio Asta easy to reach for local guests as well as attendees travelling to Copenhagen from other parts of Denmark or from abroad.
