Jacob Christian Hansen Ellehammer (1871-1946) became the first European to fly on 12 September 1906. These shots are probably taken in 1907, when the trials were performed north of Copenhagen and no longer on the island Lindholm.

On the basis of contemporary illustrations, photos and film material J. C. Ellehammer is described as an inventor and especially his effort as a flying pioneer from the first primitive attempt to fly in 1906 until his construction in 1921 of a kerosene carburetter.
