Kalkmalerier

Jørgen Roos, 1954

In a great many of the Danish village churches the vaults are decorated with anonymous series of Romanesque or Gothic frescoe paintings, dating from the 13th - 15th century and having as their subject the holy legends. This film is an attempt to dramatize, without commentary, in music and pictures only, the medieval conception of the history of man from the Creation till the day of Judgement as represented by the frescoes.
