He makes his living as the projectionist and manager of the cinema of the small town where Solvej, a couple of years younger, has spent her entire life. A young woman, a trainee at the cinema and a moonstruck local politician bring chaos and jealousy into Solvej and Leif's relationship.

On his route, he meets an upper-class couple, Ingrid and Halfdan. This brief meeting sticks with Ibrahim and when the Refugee Board denies his appeal, he seeks refuge at Ingrid and Halfdan's house.
