Take the Money and Run

Ole Juncker, 2024

When a Danish Museum gives $83,000 to an artist to reproduce a pair of works displaying the cash, reflecting the annual income of workers, he gets the idea to create a new art piece that focuses on the
poor working conditions of artists. He delivers two empty frames with blank canvases without a scrap of currency in sight and calls the work "Take the Money and Run”. The work becomes a world
sensation, but the museum wants their money back and is threatening to sue the artist, who is unable and unwilling to pay back the money.

The plain

Simon Dybbroe Møller, 2010

The camera zooms in on a detail in an abstract painting, while a laconic voice-over talks about surfaces, compositions and geometric principles. Simon Dybbroe Møller mimes the classical presentation of art, as we know it from TV programmes in the 1960's and 1970's. While the imagery continues its restless panning across non-figurative paintings, the pedagogic voice-over changes its focus.

Du danskes vej

Poul Bang, 1947

On board the State training ships "Danmark" and "Georg Stage" several hundred boys are educated and trained as sailors every year. The film gives an intimate and lively impression of life at sea, and how the Danish seafaring tradition is maintained and refreshed.

Fremtidens borgere

Theodor Christensen, 1946

A law was passed in 1942 by which a new type of school was established with the aim of giving untrained youths at the age of 15-18 years a chance of getting a certain training and skill at some profession as well as some cultural and social enlightenment. The film describes life at such schools and shows both manual training and the teaching of sociology and history. The background of the founding of the schools is the occupation with the black-out and with the contrast between Danes and Germans.
