David Moss - Take Me Away

Lars Movin, 1989

Interview and a live recording with New York drummer David Moss from an evening in Odense, autumn 1988. Since he left the traditional jazz scene in the beginning of the seventies, David Moss has been working on creating his own universe of song and drums. The music he has developed draws upon elements from rock as well as jazz and modern composition music.

Blues for Montmartre

Christian Braad Thomsen, 2011

Montmartre in Copenhagen was in the 1960's one of the true jazz corners of the world. Many great American musicians played here for months, several stayed for years, and a few are buried in Copenhagen. They settled in Denmark on the run from American racism and the New York drug scene; here they enjoyed being admired for their artistic value instead of being degraded to mere entertainers.

Music for Black Pigeons

Jørgen Leth, Andreas Koefoed, 2022

How does it feel to play? What does it mean to listen? As Director Jørgen Leth poses existential questions to the musicians, long pauses occur. Because is it even possible to put the emotions of music into words? The film is a cinematic improvisation piece. It’s about being present in the now, about playing and improvising, about carrying on the legacy of generations of jazz pioneers and creating something, unlike anything you’ve ever heard before.
