The film follows the everyday routines in a hospital ward for infectious diseases. All doors were opened for the film team to register patients and staff under all circumstances, day and night.
In this special ward patients are taken in with a whole range of different infections, and in this setting the biggest center for treating AIDS patients in Denmark has been placed.

An examination of the explosive development in "deep brain stimulation" (DBS). With permanent electrodes in selected areas of the brain, scientists can adjust abnormal activity and thereby normalise different kinds of psychiatric states. However, the method raises fundamental questions about what is normal, and how much we want our psyche manipulated with.

Jørgen Lange thomsen is a forensic expert and is used to examine the dead determining exactly how they died. It is scientific work and by careful examination, Jørgen is often able to arrive at a definitve conclusion.
One day Jørgen is hired by a large human rights organization to solve a different type of case, which demands even more of him and his professional judgment.
