A mother has her first baby; she and the father are very proud of their daughter but are extremely over-protective and spoil her as she grows up.

The relationships within the family are characterized by extremes: the mother is the dominant figure and the father is henpecked; the girl worships her father but cannot get on with her mother. She grows up and in due course falls in love, marries and becomes pregnant.
