Kammerat - Tovaritsj

Hagen Hasselbalch, 1946

At the time of the liberation there were about 7000 Russians in Denmark who had been prisoners of war or who had been used as slave-workers by the Germans. The film shows scenes of their daily life in the camps which were set up for their accommodation. We follow them on visits to farms and private homes, and to the workers at Burmeister & Wain, the famous Danish firm of shipbuilders.

De nøgne fra Skt. Petersborg

Ada Bligaard Søby, 2010

The daily lives of the ambitious but economically bereaved citizens of St. Petersburg are sympathetically rendered in a vivid tour of the Russian metropolis. Through poetic vignettes and short character portraits, Ada Søby skillfully penetrates the psyche of a city and its citizens as only an admiring foreigner could, offering humour and insight into their struggles to make do with limited resources (Eli Horwatt in Hotdocs 2012) .

My Perestroika

Robin Hessman, 2010

My Perestroika follows five ordinary Russians living in extraordinary times ¿ from sheltered Soviet childhoods, to the collapse of the USSR during adolescence, to the constantly shifting political landscape of post-Soviet Russia. Using a wealth of footage rarely seen outside of Russia ¿ My Perestroika combines an intimate view of the past with the contemporary lives of former schoolmates, painting a complex picture of the dreams and disillusionment of those raised behind the Iron Curtain.
