Flugten til Privatskolen

Gitte Sønderby, Lene Juul Bruun, 2022

Major problems in the primary school system are causing many Danish parents a dilemma. They are aware of their child’s unhappiness and think that the education is inadequate.
Should they take the selfish decision to pull their child out of primary school, to send them to private school or independent school – or should they put the good of society above their own personal interest, and let their child stay and fight for the better of our common school?
Are we creating A- and B-teams for our children? Should we as a society support the private schools with billions, even though they drain the primary school of resourceful students, parents, and teachers?
Or should we as a society strengthen the primary school, which accommodates all children – Big and small, rich and poor?
In a series of two documentaries, we will portray the intense dramas that unfold in the classroom, the teachers’ lounge, and in the homes of the families.
