Despite being labeled as delinquents and dangerous by the authorities, these 'baloeiros' are akin to street artists, operating in secrecy while bringing joy to their communities and evading government threats and bounty hunters.
Under the exclusive guidance of legendary ‘baloeiros’, film director Sissel shares her remarkable initiation into the balloon brotherhood, where the art of launching monumental silk paper creations becomes an act of social redemption and of collective dreaming.

In the countries of the Silk Road we meet 15 children – one character in each film – on the threshold of adolescence, who are all fighting for a space and an identity of their own, and who all show bravery by taking action on the things that matter to them. With recognizable themes – friendship, love, wishes for the future, parents’ ambitions – which is part of every child’s life, we hope to eliminate geographical and cultural gaps between our main characters and their Danish audience.
