Danish docs in Thessaloniki

FESTIVAL. Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, starting on Friday 9 March, showcases 12 new Danish documentaries on the occasion of the Danish EU Presidency.

12 Danish documentaries are lined up in the tribute Danish Docs at the renowned Thessaloniki Documentary Festival in Greece.
The occasion of the Danish focus is the EU Presidency, but as the festival writes in the presentation of the tribute:

"For decades Denmark’s documentary production has held its place among the most developed in Europe. Driven by the urge to inform and create, talented Danish filmmakers are active all around the world, covering a wide spectrum of issues, from human rights and immigration, to ecology and social, political and economic injustices."

The 12 selected films are:

Pitching forum

At the festival, the European Documentary Network (EDN) organizes an international pitching forum and workshop, EDN Docs in Thessaloniki Forum on 14.-18. March. 20 independent documentary projects from 14 European countries get the opportunity to develop their projects, network and meet with financiers.

Among the participators is the Danish project "Orderly People" by director Ulrik Gutken and producer Jacob Oliver Krarup from Copenhagen Film Company.

The forum starts with three days of workshops and project development, lead by experienced international producers and filmmakers, including the Danish editor Jesper Osmund . Then follow two days of pitching for a panel of 15 international financiers from leading broadcasters , including ARTE, France, ZDF and MDR, Germany, BBC, UK, DR, Denmark, YLE, Finland and ITVS International, USA. The pitching session is followed by scheduled individual meetings between the pitching teams and the financiers.
