Danish line-up at the late summer festivals

FESTIVAL. Danish films are extensively represented at the major late summer film festivals in Venice, Toronto and San Sebastian.

After a strong beginning of the festival year with awards in Sundance, Berlin and Cannes, Danish film continues to be present at the major film festivals. Venice has selected two Danish films, Toronto five, and San Sebastian two.

Venice International Film Festival (29 August-9 September)

Venice International Film Festival has selected two Danish films: Susanne Bier's "Love Is All You Need" will be showcased out of competition in the official programme, and Tobias Lindholm's "A Hijacking" is competing in the Orizzonti section. Both films will have their world premiere at the festival.

Also in the line-up is the Finnish-Paraguyan-Danish short documentary "Resistance" by Salla Sorri and Renate Costa, in the Orrizzonti Short Film section.

Nicolas Winding Refn's perfume ad for Gucci, starring Blake Lively, will premiere at a special event at the festival.

Venice International Film Festival

Toronto International Film Festival (6-16 September)

Five Danish films have been selected for Toronto International Film Festival: Nikolaj Arcel's "A Royal Affair" for a Gala Presentation, Thomas Vinterberg's "The Hunt" and Susanne Bier's "Love Is All You Need" for a Special Presentation, Tobias Lindholm's "A Hijacking" for Contemporary World Cinema, and Joshua Oppenheimers "The Act of Killing" for TIFF DOC. The latter will enjoy its world premiere at Toronto, while the other four will have their North American premiere.

In addition to the five Danish productions, Danish director Mahdi Fleifel's British-Lebanese "A World Not Ours" is selected for TIFF DOC, and the two Danish co-productions, Norwegian Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning's "Kon-tiki" and British Sally Potter's "Ginger and Rosa", are selected for the Special Presentation programme.

Danish producer Tine Grew Pfeiffer from Alphaville Pictures Copenhagen has been selected to participate in the networking platform Producers Lab Toronto 2012.

Toronto International Film Festival 

San Sebastian International Film Festival (21-29 September)

Katrine Wiedemann's "A Caretaker's Tale" will have its world premiere at San Sebastian International Film Festival, where it will compete in the Kutxa New Directors programme. Meanwhile, a newly restored version of Gabriel Axel's 1987 Oscar-winner "Babette's Feast" will screen in the Culinary Zinema: Film and Gastronomy section.

San Sebastian International Film Festival
