Parched_450

Indian Film – The Strong Women of Bollywood

India was one of the first countries in the world to have a female prime minister, and India's major film industry has always worshiped its female stars. However, the female characters have always mostly taken on stereotype roles such as the all-embracing mother and wife or the good-hearted prostitute. The series is testimony to the fact that traditional sexual norms and gender roles are being challenged in Bollywood these years. Director Leena Yadav will be present at the opening event with the screening of her film "Parched" on 12 May.

Danish on a Sunday – Danish Films with Subtitles

Twice a month the Cinematheque presents Danish films, current or classic, with English subtitles to non-Danish speaking audiences. Mikkel Munch-Fals' "Swinger" follows Adam who seems to have a good life, but something is missing, and during one of the swinger weekends he and his wife attend regularly to spice things up, the one thing that mustn't happen happens: He falls in love!
