Online mystery to New York

FESTIVAL. Film, computer games and social media merge in "Cloud Chamber", a new trans-media project which will be showcased during the New York Film Festival from 28 September.

The audience members become detectives in "Cloud Chamber", a new Danish science-fiction drama and trans-media project produced by Stinna Lassen and long-time Lars von Trier collaborator Vibeke Windeløv. The project will be showcased during the first weekend of the New York Film Festival (27 September – 13 October).

Presented in the Convergence programme, a section dedicated to new forms of storytelling, "Cloud Chamber" invites its players to work together online to uncover the story of a young scientist who risked her sanity and betrayed her father in order to save humanity from its most dangerous enemy: itself.

"Cloud Chamber" is based on an idea by Christian Fonnesbech, written by Darin Mercado and features Fabian Wullenweber as episodic content director. The project stars Jesper Christensen (Mr White in "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace"), Sara Hjort ("Borgman") and Gethin Anthony ("Game of Thrones"), and has received support from the Danish Film Institute's talent programme New Danish Screen.

During the session at the New York Film Festival, the audience will get to explore the workings of the story, and director Fonnesbech and CEO of production company Investigate North, Frederik Øvlisen, will discuss the genesis of the project and the challenges involved with building and marketing this new interactive experience.

"Cloud Chamber" will enjoy its world online premiere on 4 October.

New York Film Festival runs 27 September – 13 October, the Convergence section from 28 to 29 September.
