Seven productions have been awarded grants totalling DKK 56.3 million, approximately EUR 7.5 million. The scheme, which opened for applications for the first time in March 2026, received 31 applications in its first round.
Five productions have been awarded grants under the Live Action Scheme while two productions have been awarded grants under the Animated Films and Series Scheme.
The supported projects cover a broad range of formats, including feature films, fiction series, documentaries, animated feature films and animated series.
The Danish Production Incentive Scheme makes it possible for eligible productions to receive a reimbursement of 25% of qualifying production costs spent in Denmark. Support for each individual production is capped at DKK 20 million, approximately EUR 2.7 million.
The scheme consists of two sub-schemes, each with two annual application rounds:
The Live Action Scheme: a scheme for feature films, fiction series, documentary films and documentary series with an annual budget of DKK 100 million, approximately EUR 13.4 million.
The Animated Films and Series Scheme: a scheme for animated films and animated series with an annual budget of DKK 25 million, approximately EUR 3.3 million.
Projects are selected based on objective criteria linked to the purpose of the scheme: attracting international productions to Denmark and retaining more major Danish productions in the country. The assessment includes the size of the production budget, the level of qualifying production spend in Denmark, and a production and cultural test that rewards productions with a high number of shooting days in Denmark and productions that make use of Danish film professionals, companies and creative talent.
The second application round in 2026 will open in late August, with an expected application deadline of 24 September 2026.
