Annika Berg's youth drama "Team Hurricane" about eight teenage girls and their summer at a youth club has been honoured with the Verona Film Club Award at the Venice International Film Critics' Week for this year's "most innovative film". Berg's feature film debut was one of seven films in competition.

The prize is one of four and was awarded Friday at the closing ceremony of the International Film Critics' Week, which runs parallel to the Venice Film Festival and is organised by the association of Italian film critics.

The Verona Film Club Award is given by a jury consisting of members of the Verona Film Club founded in 1947.

About Team Hurricane

"Team Hurricane" is an experimental teen drama that celebrates teenage girls who dare to be loud, annoying, vulgar and vulnerable. Director Annika Berg describes her film as a "punk chick flick about radical girls in an ordinary world." It tells the story of eight teenage girls spending a summer together in a youth club, and how that slowly makes each of them bloom.

The film was created in a close collaboration between the director and the eight girls in the film, whom Berg found through social media. The eight girls are Eja Penelope Roepstorff, Ida Glitre, Ira Rønnenfelt, Maja Leth Bang, Mathilde Linnea Daugaard Jensen, Mia My Elise Pedersen, Sara Morling and Zara Munch Bjarnum.

"Team Hurricane" is produced by Katja Adomeit for Adomeit Film with support from the Danish Film Institute. Adomeit was also present with films at this year's Berlinale and the previous two Cannes Festivals. LevelK is handling international sales.
