8 Bar - The Evolution of Grime
Den hyperrytmiske dance-genre grime voksede ud af reggae, UK garage, jungle og hiphop i årene omkring 2000. Med sine hurtige, synkoperede breakbeats (gerne 120-140 i minuttet), sin karakteristiske piskende, elektroniske lyd og hårrejsende skildringer af livet i East London blandt 2. generations jamaicanere og andre minoriteter, gav genren stemme til Det Andet England, som siden 1960’erne er blevet negligeret og udgrænset. ’8 Bar – The Evolution of Grime’ giver dig præcis, hvad titlen lover: Fænomenets komplette udviklingshistorie fra subversivt piratradio-oprør og kultklub-hit i ghettoen til kommercielt produkt og politisk skydeskive på mainstream-scenen. Alle pionererne er med – Dizzee Rascal, Skepta, Wiley, Dirty Danger, Kano, DJ Target, DJ Slimzee, Jammer, Ghetts og Lethal Bizzle.
