The Revenge of the Shiny Shrimps
Drivkraften til den første ‘Shiny Shrimps-film’ - om et regnbue-vandpolohold fra Paris - var at sætte focus på tabuet om homoseksualitet i sport. Den nye film retter sit søgelys mod statsstøttet homofobi og hadforbrydelser samt Putins undertrykkelse af LGBTQ+-samfundet. Shiny Shrimps 2 begynder to år efter den første film. Her beslutter træner Matthias at tage Selime - en ung mand, som han mener, er homoseksuel, til Gay Games i Tokyo sammen med Shiny Shrimps. Da de kommer for sent til et fly og dermed er strandet i det fjerne Rusland, starter et vanvittigt eventyr blandet med musikalsk komedie og masser af stramme Speedos. Selvom filmen først og fremmest handler om russisk homofobi, så er filmen ikke blevet mindre aktuel, da den paradoksalt nok blev optaget i Ukraine.

The drive for the first Shiny Shrimps film - about a rainbow water polo team from Paris - was to raise the taboo of homosexuality in sport. This new chapter turns its spotlight on state-sponsored homophobia and hate crimes as well as Putin’s oppression of the LGBTQ+ community. The new Shiny Shrimps movie begins two years after the first movie. The coach Matthias decides to take Selime, a youngster he believes to be gay, to the Gay Games in Tokyo along with the Shiny Shrimps. Missing their flight connection, they are grounded in remote Russia. This is the start of a crazy adventure mixed with musical comedy and lots of tight Speedos. Although taking aim at Russian homophobia, paradoxically this sequel was shot in Ukraine before the conflict. And makes the film even more relevant.
