Misery
Den succesrige forfatter Paul Sheldon kører galt i en snestorm og vågner op hjemme hos den tilsyneladende søde sygeplejerske Annie. Sheldon vil gøre op med sine tidligere pladderromantiske værker, men Annie er stor fan af romancerne – og af favorit-karakteren ’Misery’ – og hun har ikke tænkt sig at lade sin yndlingsforfatter slippe så let. Bob Reiner overfører på fornem vis romanens karakteropbygning og fortættede, klaustrofobiske stemning til det store lærred. Det er ikke svært at leve sig ind i Pauls (James Caan) situation, og den voksende rædsel, han føler. En uhyggelig, nervepirrende gyser, der forbliver tro mod Stephen Kings forlæg. Kathy Bates modtog fortjent en Oscar for sit portræt af den psykotiske, utilregnelige Annie.
