Play for Real - Game Seminar 21.10.2015

SAVE THE DATE: PLAY FOR REAL

Games are getting real. As games grow as a medium they begin to reflect a wider variety of emotions and start serving new purposes. We see games dealing with bullying or growing up with alcoholism. We see self-reflecting games made by developers dealing with a child with cancer, or with personal depression.

We have known for a long time that the fun of games can be serious too, but at this seminar we take closer look at how to combine serious subject matters with fun, motivation and engaging gameplay.
We have invited game designer Erin Hoffman to talk about new viewpoints on the concept of fun. Vander Caballero from Minority Media, who was behind Papo & Yo and Spirits of Spring, will also be there to talk about making entertaining games for children with topics like bullying. And there will be a line-up of interesting speakers giving their perspectives as well.

The seminar takes place on October 21st 2015 in the Cinemateque in downtown Copenhagen.
Sign up is 250 DKK and includes lunch, a morning croissant and afternoon cake, as well as coffee throughout the day. There will also be a drink at the end and a chance to mingle with the participants and speakers.

The seminar is the 11th annual Play seminar. It is organized by Creative Europe Denmark, DFI Spilordningen, and DADIU, and with support from Interactive Denmark. The online registration opens in August 2015.
