I et pensionat i storbyen bor vennerne Fyrtårnet og Bivognen, som for en billig penge har indrettet sig forholdsvis komfortabelt. I værelset ved siden af bor en gammel opfinder, som er Fy og Bis gode ven. Han har i lang tid arbejdet med et fjernsynsapparat, og nu ser det ud til, at opfindelsen vil lykkes. Bi bliver nu bidt af en gal opfinder: han vil opfinde det røg- og knaldfri krudt, og Fy bliver alvorligt bekymret for sin ven. To skumle herrer forsøger nu at hugge de værdifulde tegninger til fjernsynsopfindelsen, og Fy og Bi mistænkes i sagen. Heldigvis lykkes det at få fat i de rigtige tyve, og Bi får lejlighed til at demonstrere sin geniale opfindelse! Glæd dig til at opleve Marguerite Viby og Nina Kalckar på rulleskøjter højt over Københavns tage, og bemærk også filminstruktør Holger-Madsen som kolerisk detektiv.
In a boarding house in the big city live the two friends Long and Short (AKA Pat and Patachon), having set themselves up in relative comfort on very little money. In the neighbouring room lives an old inventor, who is a good friend of Long and Short. He has been working on a television set for a long time, and now it seems that his invention will prove successful. Spurred on by this, Short is bitten by the inventing bug: he wants to invent smokeless and bangless gunpowder, and Long becomes seriously worried about his friend. At this point, two sinister men try to steal the valuable blueprints for the television invention, and Long and Short become suspects in the case. Fortunately, they manage to seize the actual thieves, and Short gets the opportunity to demonstrate his brilliant invention! Audiences can look forward to special treats such as Marguerite Viby and Nina Kalckar on roller skates high above the roofs of Copenhagen – and film director Holger-Madsen in the role of a choleric detective.
