A mythical epoch has resurrected or perhaps it never ended, the cowboys has left their hibernating den and are heading to a remove place on the GPS where only coordinates work. The stories of the old west manipulated and told by the epic film industry has inspired an alienated offspring 150 years later in a Swedish scenery. Here a group of freedom seekers are dressing up in cowboy boots and stetson hats, collectively transforming their reality into a parallel world where they escape the everyday. Rendezvous follows and observes this world as it is set into motion by its inhabitants. Their existence within this realm is what constantly keeps it activated and constitutes an unwritten narration continuously evolving. People come and go, they pass by, some reappear but the camera never ceases to be within this world. The resolute observation successively narrates and together with the inhabitants the camera encapsulate a narrative. Rendezvous is a meeting between reality and fiction. It is a filmic encounter that deals with historical and cinematic narratives that seems to exist in a haunted manner. It is a portrait of a mode of contemporary coexistence that carries a rejection towards worldly affairs, taking the Wild West as its backdrop. This world is observed through DV where the materiality of this obsolete technique deranges our perception of what is being depicted. As the film unfolds, the choice of technique is relating to what is being looked at, where the format emphasises on an intimacy in the encounter and reveals the gaps in this western simulation.
