En poetisk og visuelt fantastisk film, der væver forskellige folkeeventyr sammen og udforsker livet i en georgisk landsby. Filmen skildrer skønheden, traditionerne og de tragiske elementer i det georgiske landliv og indfanger den dybe forbindelse mellem folket og deres land. Abuladzes brug af symbolik og rige billeder gør den til en dybt følelsesladet og kulturelt resonant film, der fremhæver konflikten mellem individuelle ønsker og samfundets forventninger.
