"100 Years of Nordisk Film"

"100 Years of Nordisk Film", a volume of essays published by the Danish Film Institute (DFI), is available at the DFI's Book & Video Shop. The volume celebrates the 100th anniversary of Nordisk Film, one of the oldest existing film companies in the world.

This anthology highlights important aspects of the company throughout its 100 years of existence: the significant periods and events, and the important people and the films that made an impact. The reader will also be enlightened on the lesser known areas of the company's history, such as early screenwriting, post-production throughout the century, and the production of short films and documentaries in the 1940s and 1950s.

"100 Years of Nordisk Film" is a collection of papers presented at an international seminar held at the DFI in June 2006, and also includes the material from two lectures held in November the same year.

An overview of the company's history throughout the century is provided by the editors, Lisbeth Richter Larsen and Dan Nissen, as an introduction to the 10 essays in this book.

Among the contributors to the work are David Bordwell, Marguerite Engberg, Stephen Michael Schröder, Casper Tybjerg, Ib Bondebjerg and Peter Schepelern.
