EFA. The European Film Academy has an eye for Danish films this year. Lars von Trier's "Melancholia" leads with 8 nominations, and both "Melancholia" and Bier's "In a Better World" are in the run for Best European Film. The European Academy Awards will be held on 3 December in Berlin.

No less than 14 Danish films were nominated when the European Film Academy this weekend announced which films are to compete for the 24th European Film Awards on 3 December in Berlin.

Lars von Trier's "Melancholia" leads the field with 8 nominations, and Susanne Bier's "In a Better World" is also among the top nominees with 4 nominations. Both films are nominated for Best European Film, and Trier and Bier are both nominated for Best Director.
