At last night's presentation of the Academy Awards at
the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, the Danish short fiction film, "This
Charming Man", awarded at Clermont-Ferrand in February, was honoured
with an Oscar in the category of Best Short Film - Live Action.

The
film tells the story of Lars Hansen whose identity is mistaken for a man
called El Hassan. Instead of informing the authorities about the error,
Hansen sees an advantage in retaining his new
identity.

"This
Charming Man" was produced by Mie Andreasen of M&M Productions for
Short Fiction Film Denmark, and was directed by Martin Strange-Hansen who
co-wrote the screenplay with Flemming Christian Klem. In 2002 this same
trio of filmmakers received the Academy's Honorary Foreign Film Student
Award for their graduation film "Feeding Desire", produced by the National
Film School of Denmark.

Frequent
visitors to the film capital, producers Kim Magnusson and Tivi Magnusson
of M&M Productions have now gained their second Oscar, while, in all,
they have had four short films nominated. Their third nomination in 1999,
for Anders Thomas Jensen's short fiction film "Election Night", brought
them an Academy Award for Best Short Film.
