Arden Oplev Wins at Palm Springs

The Swedish-Danish-German coproduction "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", directed by Danish Niels Arden Oplev, won the Mercedes-Benz Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, held January 5-18.

Niels Arden Oplev is one of Denmark's most successful directors in recent years. His feature film debut "Portland" (1996) was selected for Berlin, and "We Shall Overcome" (2006) took home the Crystal Bear as well as 26 other international awards, and was the most popular national film in Danish cinemas. "Worlds Apart" (2008) was selected for Generation 14plus at Berlin.

"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is based on Swedish Stieg Larsson's bestseller novels about the disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed, ruthless computer hacker Lisbeth Salander's investigation on a number of grotesque murders.
