August in Berlin

BERLIN 2012. "Marie Krøyer", Bille August's first Danish film in 25 years, met with positive feedback from international buyers at the promo screening in Berlin.

"It was clear that the audience responded very positively to the fact that Bille August is filming in Scandinavia once again and with a Scandinavian crew, after all these years on international projects," sales agent Ann-Kristin Westerberg says from Berlin. "This promises well for future sales in the rest of Europe."

The enthusiasm reported by Svensk Filmindustri came on Saturday as "Marie Krøyer" was introduced to buyers in Berlin at a special promo screening.

It has been no less than 25 years since Bille August premiered with his last Danish production, "Pelle the Conqueror", the director's awardwinning film about a young boy and his father at the end of the 19th century fleeing a life of hardship in Sweden and looking for a brighter future in Denmark.
