Avaz brothers revealing cast for Collision

IN PRODUCTION. In a few weeks, the Avaz brothers begin shooting their upcoming drama 'Collision', with Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Cecilie Stenspil as a married couple in crisis. The film is directed by Mehdi Avaz with Milad Avaz on the script and Misam Avaz producing for Rocket Road Pictures.

Mehdi, Milad and Misam Avaz, the directing-writing-producing team behind Rocket Road Pictures, are getting set to start production on their sophomore film, 'Collision', which starts shooting on 23 November in Aarhus and in North Jutland, Denmark's most northerly region.

The three brothers made their debut last year with 'While We Live', a drama made on a limited budget that was seen by high numbers and received a string of nominations at Denmark's two most distinguished prize events, the Bodil and Robert Awards. In January, trade magazine Variety named the Avaz trio among their '10 Europeans to Watch', an annual event celebrating new talents.

'Collision' centres on a married couple, Leo and Olivia. As they are facing a crisis in their marriage, their nine-year-old daughter, Liv, becomes a messenger between her mother and father. The film explores the break-up of a family and the decisions parents make in trying to find meaning and hope when everything is falling apart. The film is inspired by true stories that the brothers have researched in collaboration with the Danish Fathers' Association.

Nikolaj Lie Kaas plays Leo and Cecilie Stenspil his wife Olivia. Kaas recently starred in the Amazon Prime series 'Britannia' and has taken centre stage in Zentropa's Department Q four-film franchise as detective Carl Mørck.

The cast also includes Sebastian Jessen, Charlotte Munck, Tommy Kenter, Henning Jensen, Rasmus Bjerg, Nicolas Bro, Casper Crump and Jes Dorph. Playing young Liv is Karla Sigrid Wienberg Avaz, daughter of producer Misam Avaz.

Like the brothers' debut film, 'Collision' is directed by Mehdi Avaz with Milad Avaz on the script and Misam Avaz producing for Road Rocket Pictures together with Kim Magnusson and Sara Victoria Pedersen.

'Collision' is supported by the Danish Film Institute and is also backed by national broadcaster TV 2 and the West Danish Film Fund. Trustnordisk is handling international sales.

'Collision' is expected to land in Danish cinemas in autumn 2019.
