Awards 2005 - Danish films

15.07.2005

During the first half of 2005 Danish films received
over forty distinctions at international film festivals. An overview
can be accessed at DFI's website.
Top scorers on the feature film awards
list include "Brothers", "Villa Paranoia" and the children's film "The Fakir".
Moreover documentary films such as "Max By Chance" and "Prostitution
Behind the Veil" made their impact on the international documentary
scene.
Short fiction is also represented with "Happy Now" and "My Dad is a
Champ". From another
perspective, a number of film festival majors with a strong sales focus
were a platform for Danish films in the first half year: Sundance
("Brothers"), Berlin ("Accused"), Cannes ("Manderlay" and "Dark Horse"),
Shanghai ("Young Andersen"), Moscow ("Dear Wendy"), Karlovy Vary
("Chinaman"). These majors were one feat, now expectations are centred on
festivals at Venice, Toronto and San Sebastian.
