Susanne Bier's
critically acclaimed feature film "Brothers" was honoured with Best
Actress Award (Connie Nielsen) and Best Actor Award (Ulrich Thomsen) at
the closing gala of the 52nd San Sebastian International Film Festival
(17-25 September 2004). Connie Nielsen and Ulrich Thomsen were present at
the cermony to receive their Silver Shell Award.
"Brothers" was produced
by Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Peter Aalbæk Jensen for Zentropa Productions.
Anders Thomas Jensen, also writer on Bier's successful feature "Open
Hearts", wrote the screenplay.
Only four weeks after
its release, the Danish audience for "Brothers" is as high as a quarter
million.
Denmark has a population
of 5.4 million.
