Danish short film to compete for an Oscar

Dorte Høgh's short film "The Pig" is nominated for an Academy Award (Oscar) in the category of Best Short Film — Live Action.Renowned Danish actor Henning Moritzen plays 78-year-old Asbjørn, who is admitted to hospital for a minor operation. Asbjørn feels scared and lonely, but then he notices a curious painting on the wall depicting a jumping pig with a Mona Lisa-smile. After surgery, Asbjørn discovers that the painting is missing … The film is produced by Tivi Magnusson, Christian Potalivo and Johanne Stryhn Hørby for M&M Productions, and supported by New Danish Screen. The cast also includes Jesper Asholt, Farshad Kholghi and Trine Pallesen.
This is the fifth Oscar nomination for M&M Productions. Their third and fourth nominations brought home Oscars: Anders Thomas Jensen's short film "Election Night" in 1999 and Martin Strange-Hansen's short film "This Charming Man".
