Five Danish films at Silverdocs

Five Danish films are selected for competition at Silverdocs in Washington (16-23 June):

"Milosevic on Trial" by Michael Christoffersen and "Mechanical Love" by Phie Ambo will screen in the World Feature Competition, "On the Way to Paradise" by Suvi Andrea Helminen in the Silver Spectrum section – and "One Day" by Ditte Haarløv Johnsen and "Ground Floor Right" by Marlene Schiött Rasmussen in the shorts competition.

"Milosevic on Trial" is produced by Mette Heide for Team Productions and follows the UN tribunal against the former Serbian president until his death in 2006. A panel discussion will follow the screening on June 17 with the participation of former NATO commander in Kosovo General Wesley Clark, who is today politically active for the Democrats.

"Mechanical Love", an investigation into our relationship with robots, is produced by Sigrid Helene Dyekjær for Tju-Bang Film. The film is currently much sought for at international festivals – within the next month, the film will be travelling to Edinburgh, Los Angeles, Munich, Jerusalem and Wellington.

"On the Way to Paradise" was last year awarded Best Danish Documentary at Odense Film Festival. Produced by Lise Lense-Møller for Magic Hour Films, the film tells the story of the ageing couple Inge and Holger Thomasen whose shared memories of a lifetime come to surface as they move from their beloved house.

Both "Mechanical Love" og "On the Way to Paradise" will enjoy their US premiere at Silverdocs.

Ditte Haarløv Johnsen's graduation film "One Day" received a Special Mention at IDFA in Amsterdam last year as well as two awards at CPH:DOX, and "Ground Floor Right" by UK-based Marlene Schiött Rasmussen screened at Hot Docs in Toronto in April.
