Hard-hitting drama to Rotterdam

R, a feature film debut by Michael Noer and Tobias Lindholm, is selected for the competition programme at Rotterdam film festival.

The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), the essential European hub for discovering new film talent, has selected Tobias Lindholm and Michael Noer's "R" for the Tiger Awards Competition.

This hard-hitting drama, taking place in a Danish prison, portrays R who has received a sentence for violence. He's insistent on staying out of harm's way and in doing so he is faced with the challenge of navigating through prison culture with its notions of honour, hidden agendas and contracts.

The director duo Tobias Lindholm, a scriptwriter, and Michael Noer, a documentary filmmaker, are both graduates of the National Film School of Denmark. Together they made the tragicomic short film "Hawaii". Actor Pilou Asbæk, who plays R, also featured in Niels Arden Oplev's "Worlds Apart".

Rene Ezra and Tomas Radoor produced "R" for Nordisk Film.
