Thomas Vinterberg's "The Hunt" and Nikolaj Arcel's "A Royal Affair" are both in the run for the golden European Film Awards. The European Film Academy has selected 47 European features from 31 countries.
During the next weeks, the 2,700 academy members will be able to vote in the various categories. Nominations will be announced on 3 November at the Seville European Film Festival.
Last year, Lars von Trier's "Melancholia" took the top prize for Best European Film plus two other prizes, Susanne Bier was presented with the Best European Director award, and Mads Mikkelsen received an an honorary achievement award.
The 25th European Film Awards will be presented on 1 December in Malta.
Celebrated in Toronto
Meanwhile, "The Hunt" and "A Royal Affair" can rejoice in the great reception they've got at the Toronto International Film Festival, where both films have just enjoyed their world premiere.

"The Hunt" is produced by Morten Kaufmann and Sisse Graum Jørgensen, and "A Royal Affair" is produced by Louise Vesth, Sisse Graum Jørgensen, Meta Louise Foldager, both films for Zentropa with support from the Danish Film Institute.
