Lars von Trier films tour US

Press release01.03.2004
Lars von Trier's works
will screen at some of the US' largest cinematheques during March, while
his latest film "Dogville" - a big attraction at Cannes last year - will
receive its US release on 26 March in Los Angeles and New York.
American cinema-goers
will have the opportunity to view von Trier's entire works, from his
film school films to "Dogville". The films will screen at the American
Museum of the Moving Image in New York, the American Cinematheque in Los
Angeles, Harvard Film Archive in Boston, and in the state of Ohio, Wexner
Center in Columbus and the Cinematheque in Cleveland.
In the programme of the
American Cinematheque in Los Angeles von Trier is described in the
following words: "Acclaimed for his mastery of unsettling melodramatic
tension, raw character-driven emotion, and bold visual style, von Trier
has situated himself as a major force in contemporary cinema - not only
for his own films, but also for the visionary Dogme95
manifesto."
The Cinematheques have
been permitted to screen special previews of "Dogville"; the 'Egyptian
Theater' in Hollywood, where the American Cinematheque is domiciled, will
screen "Dogville" on 16 March.
The tour of Trier's
works is arranged by the Danish Film Institute in collaboration with the
US distributor and the above mentioned cinematheques. For further
