This Life to Karlovy Vary

FESTIVAL. Five Danish films have been selected for Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, kicking off 29 June. "This Life" is among Variety's 10 handpicked films by European directors to watch.

Karlovy Vary International Film Festival has selected five Danish films for the 47th edition that is taking place the 29 June-7 July in the Czech Republic.

Anne-Grethe Bjarup Riis' resistance drama "This Life", which has just reached 750,000 tickets at the domestic box office, will have its international premiere in the prestigious programme Variety's Ten European Filmmakers to Watch. Variety critic Alissa Simon has handpicked 10 films by talented European directors who will be presented at the festival on 1-2 July. The event is supported by the European Film Promotion.

Mads Matthiesen's Sundance-winner "Teddy Bear" and Thomas Vinterbergs Cannes-winner "The Hunt" will be shown in the Panorama section, Mads Brügger's "The Ambassador" will screen in the section for documentaries out of competition, and Behrouz Bigdelis' film school short "To All of My Friends" be shown alongside other winners from Prague Short Film Festival 2011.

Furthermore, two Danish co-productions will compete in the Documentary Competition: Jacob Dammas and Helge Renner's Polish-Danish "Polish Illusions" and Lauren Greenfields American-Danish Sundance-winner "The Queen of Versailles", and Ester Martin Bergsmark's Swedish-Danish short "She Male Snails" will be shown in the section Another View.
