Mozart in Pusan

FESTIVAL. Kasper Holten, director of the Royal Danish Opera, has signed his first feature film with "Juan", opening internationally on 8 October at Asia's top film festival in Pusan.

Pusan International Film Festival has selected two Danish films to take part in this year's edition running 7-15 October: the opera film "Juan", Kasper Holten's take on Mozart's "Don Giovanni", in the Flash Forward section and Joachim Back's "The New Tenants" in the short film showcase Wide Angle.

Kasper Holten has a track record of more than 50 stage productions all over the world. His film version of the fictional libertine Don Juan is set in a big city in the present, and the protagonist is a modern, manipulative man, who constantly seeks fulfillment of his desires.

"The New Tenants" is directed by Joachim Back and scripted by prolific writer-director Anders Thomas Jensen. Oscar winner for Best Short, the film is a dark-humoured story of two men on the worst moving day ever.
