Since the former director Kenneth Plummer resigned in October there has been much speculation about his future successor. But in the end the board of directors went with an insider.
Maria Rørbye Rønn, 47, has been with DR for 15 years and arrives from a position as the manager of the Law, Politics and Strategy department. To insiders she is regarded as a strong administrative type with a knack for making tough decisions. She will be the first woman to hold the position.
Maria Rørbye Rønn comments on her recent appointment: “It is crucial in the coming years that DR gains a stronger profile. My role will be to ensure that DR to an even greater extent will focus on content and quality, so that DR maintains significance for Danes in the future.”
