Six Danish Feature Films and Two Documentaries Selected for the Göteborg Film Festival

FESTIVAL. When the Nordic region’s largest film festival, the Göteborg Film Festival, opens on 23 January, Danish cinema will be strongly represented. A total of six Danish feature films and two documentaries have been selected for this year’s festival programme. In the main competition for Nordic feature films, Maria Sødahl’s ‘The Last Resort’ and Emilie Thalund’s feature debut ‘Weightless’ will compete for the award for Best Nordic Film and a prize of SEK 400,000.

Paradise and Weightless in Main Competition for Nordic Feature Films

In ‘The Last Resort’, Danica Curcic and Esben Smed star as parents in a family on a dream holiday at a luxurious resort. When they encounter a man in acute distress, their desire to help is put to the test. The boundary between compassion and fear becomes blurred, and the family must consider how far they are willing to go – and what it may cost them.

The film is produced by Thomas Robsahm for Nordisk Film and will be released in Danish cinemas on 5 March.

‘Weightless’ centres on 15-year-old Lea, who is spending the summer at a health camp. There she befriends the spontaneous and self-confident Sasha, whom Lea both admires and sees herself reflected in. While Sasha seeks attention from local boys, Lea becomes fascinated by the adult educator Rune. The story revolves around friendship, infatuation and the setting of boundaries.

‘Weightless’ is produced by Anna Dammegaard Søllested and Clara Jantzen Kreinøe for Snowglobe and will be released in Danish cinemas on 26 February.
