Susanne Bier's latest feature film "Brothers", to be released 27 August
in Danish cinemas, is selected for the official competition at the 52nd
San Sebastian International Film Festival (17-25 September 2004).
Only two years ago, Bier's "Open Hearts", seen by a tenth of the Danish
population and distributed in the USA, participated in San Sebastian's
official competition. "Brothers" is also selected for the Toronto
International Film Festival in September.
"Brothers" is a powerful and moving drama about a man's struggle to
regain life and love in the wake of tragedy. Leading players are Ulrich
Thomsen ("The Celebration"); Nikolaj Lie Kaas ("Truly Human") and renowned
Danish-Hollywood actress Connie Nielsen.
"Brothers" is directed by Susanne Bier and written by Anders Thomas
Jensen on the basis of a mutual idea. The film is produced by Sisse Graum
Olsen and Peter Aalbæk Jensen for Zentropa Productions.
