San Sebastian selects "Manslaughter" and "Bang Bang Orangutan"

Per
Fly's "Manslaughter" and Simon Staho's "Bang Bang Orangutan" are selected
for the official
competition at the 53rd San Sebastian International Film Festival (15-24
September 2004).



"Manslaughter"
"Manslaughter" is the third film in Fly's societal trilogy,
following the titles "The Bench", dealing with the working-class, and
"Arven", a dissection of the wealthy elite, the latter recipient of San
Sebastian's Best Screenplay Award. The two first films in the trilogy have
had enormous success at home and abroad. Fly's third film focuses on the
middle-class.


"Manslaughter"
is produced by Ib Tardini for Zentropa, and will be released in Danish
cinemas 26 August. Actor Jesper Christensen, who received a European
Academy Award nomination for his role in "The Bench", plays the lead in
"Manslaughter", together with Pernilla August, Beate Bille and Charlotte
Fich.



"Bang Bang
Orangutan"


"Bang
Bang Orangutan" is Simon Staho's third feature film. His two first films,
"Wildside" and "Day and Night" were selected for San Sebastian's Zabaltegi
section. Moreover the latter received the Silver Hugo for "its perfectly
balanced ensemble acting" at Chigaco, 2004.



"Bang
Bang Orangutan", produced by Jonas Frederiksen for Cinevita, will be
released in Danish cinemas 11 November. Staho's Swedish cast include
Mikael Persbrandt, Lena Olin and Tuva Novotny, among
others.
